The Ashby Big Band
The Ashby Big Band was formed in March 2005 by a group of local
musicians initially as a rehearsal band. In a relatively short time the band
has become one of the most sought after Big Bands in the Country. The
band is a full 16 piece swing band with Saxes, Trumpets, Trombones and
Rhythm section - the same formation as Glenn Miller, Ted Heath or a
name that the younger generation will know ... Jools Holland's Rhythm
and Blues Orchestra.
Where budget or space is a constraint the band can reduce down to a 12
or 10 piece Swing Band or an 8 Piece "Little" Big Band.
The individual musicians have impressive credentials with varied and
interesting backgrounds. They have a wealth of experience in live
performing, having studied at Kneller Hall, the Royal College of Music
and the Guildhall School of Music. Ex cruise liner performers for Cunard
and P&O. Have worked or are currently working with the Beautiful
South, Don Lusher, Kenny Baker, 42nd Street, the Lion King ...
Recording sessions, TV and Radio performances.
