Vintage Dance Band
based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and providing services across the UK

The Ashby Big Band is a 13 to 16 piece Swing Orchestra using the classic Big Band formation of saxes, brass and rhythm section of some of the great big bands of the swing era. Our music is a tribute to Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, more recently Ted Heath and a name youngsters will recognise; Jools Holland and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.
With this being our flagship band, we rehearse monthly and play at some of the most prestigious events where only the best Big Band will do. The music is rehearsed to perfection and each program is tailored specifically for the event. We are based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch and available across Derbyshire, Wales, Nottingham and Yorkshire.

The Ashby 'little' Big Band

The Ashby 'little' Big Band is a 6 to 8 piece  band consisting of saxes, brass and rhythm and our most popular size band. This band also rehearse monthly and perform at events across the UK where space or budget is a constraint. With bespoke arrangements and expert sound technicians, our "little" Big Band sounds like a band twice its size.

The Ashby Tea Dance Band

The Ashby Tea Dance Band is a 5  piece band consisting of 2 horns with a 3 piece rhythm section. Rehearsals are specific for the event to ensure perfection. This band plays most things the little Big Band can. With special bespoke arrangements and an expert sound technician, our Tea Dance Band sounds like a band twice its size.
When it comes to vocalists, we can include or add a female and /or male vocalist with any of our bands.

ABB History

The Big Band was the idea of Ashby-de-la-Zouch trumpeter David Bradford who not only wanted to offer local musicians the chance to play in one of the best big bands around, but to also give the local community a band they could be proud of. The band is now one of the best
Glenn Miller/1940s tribute bands in the country, with many players living in the Ashby area and players also coming from as far afield as Birmingham, London and Sheffield.

The Band normally rehearse once or twice a month on a Wednesday. Our rehearsals are 8-10pm at the Thringstone Community Members Club, LE67 8LR. Keep posted about our upcoming events or contact us to find out more.
